The story

Martin Mayorga grew up in Latin America, where coffee meant green beans from the market, roasted at home in a frying pan. Today Mayorga Coffee roasts in Rockville, Maryland, just north of Washington, DC: two small-batch roasters in 11,000 square feet, in a facility that is organic certified and 100% wind powered.

The people

Co-founder Kerry Mayorga on paying farmers well. Alfredo, the roastmaster from El Salvador, on learning the flame, in his own language. Eric, Director of Product Excellence, on tasting every sample from seed to cup.

What we made

The film that started Mayorga's video storytelling. We handled everything, from the interviews and filming to the edit and subtitles: three and a half minutes told entirely by the people who do the work, from green bean to roaster to cup.
